libxfce4menu to be renamed to gdesktopmenu

Now that all Xfce dependencies have been removed from libxfce4menu, I'm planning to rename it to something more generic. Travis Watkins from Alacarte has expressed interest in helping with writing the XfceMenuEditor (err GDesktopMenuEditor) part. He is also working on Vala bindings for the library.
With a more complete API and polished code perhaps we can even move gdesktopmenu over to freedesktop.org ... who knows.

Nice :)
I'm wondering why all this messing up with gnome stuff: this new name sounds more gnome-ish than xfce-ish :)
I can understand migrating from thunarvfs to gio, since it implies less code to maintain, and I do agree with it.
But when it comes to names, I don't understand why giving names that can be confused with gnome stuff.
by the way, go on :) and good work ;-) You are the coder, you decide.
I'm wondering why gdesktopmenu-vala is a separate project than xfce4-vala.

Since there are no Xfce dependencies in the library anymore, there's no need to have some sort of branding in the name. The 'g' doesn't stand for GNOME. It's supposed to be a reference to GLib.
Seriously, naming isn't that important, and there's no reason to fear a library that starts with the letter 'g'.
Keep up with the good work Jannis! This is definitely a good idea as it will bring and already brought contributors.
Now we only need to convince Travis to make Alacarte GNOME free to have a full Gtk only menu stack!
